What is a Wet Process PC Brick Machine Practical Process and Application Overview for the Industry
For practitioners engaged in brick production and municipal landscape paving, there are different positioning categories of PC stone-imitation bricks on the market, which are mainly produced by two types of equipment: dry process brick machines and wet process brick machines. Many new manufacturers and engineering procurement personnel struggle to tell them apart, assuming that as equipment for making floor tiles, the difference between finished products is limited. A wet process PC brick machine is special forming equipment for stone-imitation floor tiles, and it is widely applied in the production of PC bricks for mid-to-high-end engineering projects.
Simply put, the core difference between a wet process PC brick machine and conventional brick machines lies in material state and forming method. Dry process brick machines use low-moisture raw materials and rely on vibration for forming. A wet process PC brick machine mixes sand, stone, cement, rock and other raw materials with water to prepare evenly blended concrete slurry, and then shapes the bricks through hydraulic static pressing. No high-temperature firing is required throughout production. Forming is achieved by physical means, making it a brick-making equipment aligned with environmental protection directions.
The wet static pressing process helps mitigate common issues found in traditional vibration brick production. Bricks formed by vibration may have loose structures and internal air voids, with relatively rough surfaces. Such products may suffer from sanding, particle loss or cracking after long-term use. The wet process machine combines uniform static pressing with vacuum deaeration to achieve denser slurry bonding. The internal structure of bricks becomes relatively homogeneous, reducing void defects and delivering consistent density and flatness in finished products.
Double-layer material feeding is a commonly adopted process for wet process PC brick machines in the industry. The equipment supports separate feeding for different layers. The surface layer uses stone slurry to maintain the texture, color and wear resistance of the brick face, delivering an appearance close to natural stone. The base layer adopts conventional mixed materials. On the premise of preserving the service performance of floor tiles, manufacturers can adjust raw material costs and better plan production returns.
In terms of practical application scenarios, PC bricks made via the wet process can meet the requirements of paving projects with higher standards. They are frequently used in municipal squares, park landscape paths, garden areas of residential communities, commercial street pavements, stations and airports. These sites have heavy foot traffic and set requirements for appearance and service durability. Bricks from the dry process are mostly used for conventional paving such as urban sidewalks and simple permeable pavements.
