Exploration on Solid Waste Resource Utilization Path in Building Material Industry Supported by PC Brick Making Equipment

        PC brick making machine, fully named precast concrete brick forming equipment, is special forming equipment for manufacturing concrete products used in municipal pavement construction. Its production follows the industrial standards for block forming machines specified in JC/T920-2011. It can produce imitation stone bricks, water-permeable bricks, tactile paving bricks, curb stones, grass planting bricks and other pavement building materials. The complete set of equipment consists of a batching and mixing unit, layered distributing mechanism, hydraulic forming main unit, automatic plate feeding and demoulding assembly and electric control system. The whole production process includes five steps: raw material proportioning and mixing, layered material distribution, static pressure vibration compaction, green brick demoulding and transfer curing. Green bricks are formed through physical compression under normal temperature without high-temperature sintering procedures.
        The equipment supports a wide range of raw materials. Sand, stone and stone powder are adopted as base materials. During production, fly ash, steel slag, recycled aggregate from construction waste and other industrial and construction waste can be mixed in reasonable proportions. Materials are evenly stirred and then sent into molds for forming. After inspection, mechanical indicators of finished products meet relevant specifications for municipal pavement building materials, which can satisfy the usage requirements of paving projects including urban roads, landscape sites and public buildings. By adopting such raw material collocation schemes, building material manufacturers can consume local stock solid waste and adjust raw material procurement structures, which conforms to relevant policy guidance on harmless disposal of solid waste in various regions.
        According to the moisture content of materials during forming, machine models available on the market are divided into three forming processes: dry method, wet method and mixed dry-wet method. Dry forming equipment features stable energy consumption control and balanced water permeability of finished products, suitable for community walkways and ordinary municipal sidewalks. Wet forming equipment delivers stable pressure output and complete surface textures of bricks, applicable to venues with high decorative demands such as commercial plazas and high-speed railway platforms. The mixed dry-wet forming method integrates characteristics of the former two processes, balancing surface appearance and bottom water permeability, and is widely adopted in production lines supporting garden and comprehensive road projects. The equipment is fitted with combined molds. Operators can replace molds of different specifications according to orders to realize the production of various products. Standardized production lines only require a small number of on-duty staff, suitable for regular continuous operation of small and medium-sized building material processing plants.
        In terms of structural design, mainstream PC brick making machines adopt an integrated electromechanical-hydraulic solution. The frame is a section steel welded structure, adapting to long-term working conditions with continuous pressure and vibration. Separate bins are set for base materials and surface materials, and the two types of raw materials are conveyed and fed independently to reduce deviations in specification and weight of single finished bricks. The hydraulic oil circuit is equipped with a pressure stabilizing structure. Pressure is released uniformly after forming to lower the probability of defective bricks with chipped edges or cracks. The electric control system is equipped with program interlock logic, enabling automatic coordination of each working procedure and mitigating production fluctuations caused by manual operation.
        Daily operation and maintenance can be divided into three stages: pre-shift inspection, in-production patrol inspection and post-shift maintenance. Before production, staff need to check the hydraulic oil level, motor circuits and fastening status of molds, and clear agglomerated raw materials in bins to prevent feeding blockage. During production, operating parameters such as oil pressure and material distribution uniformity should be recorded regularly, and production shall be suspended for inspection in case of abnormal parameters. After daily production, residual materials on the whole equipment need to be thoroughly cleaned. Lubricating grease should be applied to moving parts including sliding rails and guide columns. Wearing parts such as hydraulic filter elements and sealing pieces shall be replaced in accordance with operation cycles. Enterprises can establish operation and maintenance ledgers to record component replacement and fault maintenance information, arrange quarterly in-depth maintenance based on cumulative equipment operation hours, stabilize continuous production efficiency and extend the service life of the whole machine.
        With the continuous advancement of sponge city construction and tighter control over natural stone mining, market demand for pavement building materials made from recycled raw materials maintains steady growth, and the quantity of supporting PC brick production lines rises gradually. Many building material industrial parks are equipped with pre-treatment equipment for crushing and screening solid waste, building a circular industrial chain covering waste recovery, proportioning and brick making, and supply of finished products to infrastructure projects. Such production modes are continuously popularized among small and medium-sized processing enterprises in counties, promoting steady low-carbon and resource-oriented development in the building material manufacturing sector.
