Process characteristics and compliant production application of PC brick machine

        The PC brick machine is a specialized equipment for producing prefabricated concrete bricks. Relying on the coordinated process of accurate material distribution, pressurized molding, and curing, it can manufacture various types of PC bricks such as stone-like, permeable, and load-bearing bricks, which are widely used in municipal road paving, landscape construction, community facilities, and prefabricated building components. Its significant feature lies in the rational utilization of recycled raw materials such as construction waste, stone powder, and coal gangue, which aligns with the development trend of solid waste recycling and green building materials, making it a commonly used equipment to replace natural stone and traditional sintered bricks. Currently, the global brick machine market is expanding steadily, reaching USD 2.404 billion in 2024 and expected to climb to USD 3.452 billion by 2032. Among them, PC brick machines, due to their adaptability to multiple fields, continue to increase their share in the fully automatic hydraulic molding brick machine category. Mastering its process key points, policy compliance requirements, and operation and maintenance specifications is of practical significance for production enterprises to ensure product quality and adapt to market demands.

        Policy compliance is a crucial prerequisite for the selection and production of PC brick machines, with clear regulations at both national and local levels. The policy jointly issued by ten departments, including the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, proposes that by 2027, the average resource utilization rate of construction waste in prefecture-level cities and above nationwide should reach over 50%. Municipal engineering projects are mandated to ensure that the utilization rate of recycled aggregates is not less than 20%, and the utilization rate of recycled building materials such as permeable bricks is not less than 30%. Cities like Shenzhen have already raised this proportion to 40%. Meanwhile, the GB/T 8239-2014 standard clearly defines the strength grades of PC bricks, covering categories such as MU15, MU25, and MU30. It eliminates the original low-strength grade specifications and adds key indicators such as water absorption and limits on radioactive nuclides. Equipment production must strictly comply with the corresponding technical requirements. From the perspective of industry development trends, the goal of achieving a 30% share of newly constructed prefabricated buildings in China by 2025 has been met, leading to a surge in demand for precision-compliant PC bricks. This directly drives the market size of PC brick machines suitable for such products to climb to RMB 2.8 billion, with policy and market demand forming a two-way drive.

        Local policy differences further clarify the adaptation direction of PC brick machines, with various regions introducing corresponding measures based on their industrial characteristics. In Beijing, the production process of concrete pavement bricks formed by wet molding has been included in the elimination scope in relevant catalogues, promoting the upgrading of PC brick machines to dry pressing and low-pollution processes. Yong'an City in Fujian Province has issued a special plan to provide subsidies for the elimination of backward brick-making equipment such as rotary kilns, with a subsidy standard of 15,000 yuan per kiln. At the same time, enterprises are encouraged to switch to producing new wall materials. On top of provincial subsidies, the municipal government provides an additional 30% reward. In the bidding for municipal projects in the Yangtze River Delta and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, equipment is often required to have the ability to adapt to renewable raw materials and energy consumption monitoring functions. Some projects provide subsidies to production lines with a certain proportion of solid waste content. Resource-based provinces such as Shandong and Shanxi encourage enterprises to introduce PC brick machines to digest industrial solid waste. Local enterprises have achieved compliant conversion of PC brick machines to coal gangue and other solid waste through technological research and development, forming a closed-loop model of "solid waste recycling - regenerative brick making".

        The process characteristics of PC brick machines determine product quality. Common models primarily utilize hydraulic pressurization and vibratory molding, combined with a secondary distribution system to achieve a stone-like effect. Some companies have overcome important technologies such as accurate metering and quantitative material distribution, as well as automatic cleaning and oil spraying, through technological breakthroughs, thereby enhancing process stability. The production process involves complete steps such as raw material pretreatment, proportioning and mixing, secondary distribution, pressurized molding, steam curing, and surface processing: natural stone powder is crushed and sieved, then mixed with high-grade cement, additives, and recycled aggregates in proportion, with moisture content controlled within a reasonable range. The surface texture and underlying substrate are layered through secondary distribution technology, and then compacted by the hydraulic system. The molding pressure of the hydraulic machine can be adjusted according to demand. Subsequently, the product enters a sealed environment for steam curing. After demolding, the surface is treated through milling and sandblasting processes to exhibit natural stone textures such as flamed and荔枝纹. Among them, hydraulic machines are suitable for producing load-bearing PC bricks, while vibratory machines are suitable for producing conventional permeable and landscape PC bricks. These two types of machines cover most application scenarios.

        Raw material control and equipment operation and maintenance directly affect the quality and production stability of PC bricks. In the industry, some enterprises have optimized this aspect through intelligent transformation. Recycled aggregates need to undergo strict pretreatment, with particle size controlled within the range of 5-20 millimeters and moisture content stabilized at 5%-8%, to avoid cracking of the bricks due to excessively high moisture content and affecting the bonding strength due to excessively low moisture content. The proportion of solid waste mixed needs to be adjusted according to the product application. The amount of solid waste mixed in landscape bricks can be appropriately increased, while for load-bearing bricks, it is necessary to ensure that the raw material strength meets the standards. After introducing an intelligent PC brick production line, a building materials enterprise in Zouping achieved full-process control through "5G+Industrial Internet". The number of workers in the molding workshop was reduced from 36 to 6, and the production duration was shortened from 21 hours to 14 hours, which not only reduced labor costs but also avoided peak electricity consumption periods to reduce energy consumption. In terms of operation and maintenance, the hydraulic system's sealing performance and the accuracy of the feeding device need to be checked daily, and special lubricating grease should be applied to the transmission components. Regular cleaning of residual raw materials in the molds and verification of dimensions are also necessary. The temperature control system of steam curing equipment needs to be checked daily to ensure that the curing temperature and time meet the process requirements, thereby extending the equipment's service life.

        The PC brick machine industry is experiencing a trend of intelligent and green transformation, with technological upgrades positively interacting with market demand. By 2025, the domestic production capacity of brick machines is expected to reach 455,000 units, and the capacity utilization rate is projected to increase to 82.0%. Specifically, fully automatic hydraulic molding PC brick machines, characterized by precision and low energy consumption, have achieved a market penetration rate of 65%. Intelligent models equipped with IoT remote monitoring systems account for over 80% of the market. Some enterprises have established cooperative relationships with research institutions, set up R&D platforms at or above the provincial level, and obtained hundreds of technical patents, driving equipment iteration and upgrading. Some PC brick machine production lines can process 2,000 tons of construction waste daily, realizing resource recycling. In terms of export markets, the infrastructure boom in countries along the "Belt and Road" has driven demand growth. By 2025, China's brick machine export growth rate is expected to remain above 15%, and export value is expected to exceed US$550 million. PC brick machines are mainly sold to Southeast Asia, Africa, and Central Asia, and exported models need to be adapted to local raw material characteristics and environmental standards. In the future, with the promotion of waste-free city construction and the popularization of prefabricated buildings, PC brick machines with solid waste compliance conversion and low energy consumption characteristics will gain wider application, and industry concentration will gradually increase.
